I'm told the boys don't make much noise, not nearly as much as hens, and that female ducks are noisier than cockerels. So I've said I really, really want to have a couple of boy ducks to keep the slugs down as the hens don't seem to like them (though they like snails). I've even got names for the boy ducks we don't have! In my head they're called Bert and Ernie. Well. Like the Sesame Street characters, and like us, two boys live together, people are gonna talk.... >;-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2353497591349986008.post-53603377394991702762009-09-29T22:04:55.667+01:002009-09-29T22:04:55.667+01:00Mayo - I've clipped their wings as they aren&#...Mayo - I've clipped their wings as they aren't wild birds, not like the recued Mallards, so I'm not sure. I don't think Cheese the male would get far because he's so big & heavy! Chalk still tries to take off though bless her. I've heard that when they do fly they do not necessarily fly away from home - just around & about. I hope you don't mind him / her sticking around if that's true! Have you enjoyed the experience? I absolutely love my Muscovies to pieces. Amazing ducks :-DSarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06729233060266402303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2353497591349986008.post-25101475889268394362009-09-29T17:34:09.975+01:002009-09-29T17:34:09.975+01:00How could they possibly resist coming back to all ...How could they possibly resist coming back to all those good vibes !!
Just as a matter of interest, at what age did Chalk and Cheese start to fly ? (Just wondering how much longer I'll have the company of my rescued muscovey : currently 11 weeks old and getting very independent, and working really hard at trying to take off).
Thanks so much for more good reads.
Max.Mayohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16491556475369784775noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2353497591349986008.post-21900604693677339292009-09-27T04:19:59.964+01:002009-09-27T04:19:59.964+01:00How wonderfull!!!
